As part of the Inland Rail project, ARTC identified a requirement for a new Material Distribution Centre to service future installation of rail, ballast and sleepers for approximately 570 km of heavy haul track, between Narromine and Gowrie.
D&N were engaged to undertake a geotechnical investigation and subsequent formation, gantry and heavy-duty pavement design across the site footprint.
The site posed multiple geotechnical challenges, including being within a floodplain with variable subgrade conditions. D&N were able to partition areas of the site and effectively design appropriate pavements and structures based on the intended layout.
