Parklands Quarry Assessment

Nambour, QLD

Background

As part of proposed quarry upgrades, a practical assessment of rockfall and landslide hazards in the context of current and future planned quarry extractive operations was required, on the basis of current observed site conditions.

Scope

D&N were engaged to carry out a site walkover and risk assessment, based on the Australian Geomechanics Society Landslide Practice Note Guidelines (2007).

Challenges

The site posed multiple challenges for the development, with current face heights of over 30 m recorded across the site. Variable benching, with highly jointed rock faces, often displaying water seepage were noted. The development will require detailed geotechnical assessment and management as works progress.
