D&N Geotechnical seek a highly motivated, energetic individual to join our growing Brisbane team as Senior Geotechnical Engineer. The ideal candidate will have a solid background in ground engineering, a demonstrable track record in client engagement, bid management, and effective project delivery across a broad range of applications.

D&N Geotechnical have a strong local and national pipeline of work, from relatively small-scale projects, through to state significant and national scale development infrastructure. The role will involve effective delivery of local projects and technical input into major project delivery across the company supporting our Sydney and Canberra offices. The role includes scoping, planning and delivery management of geotechnical investigations, risk assessments, technical input/delivery of temporary and permanent works.

The principal responsibilities of the role include:

  • Training and mentorship of colleagues at all levels.
  • Scoping, planning and delivering site investigations of varied complexity.
  • Interpretation of investigation/assessment findings and development of accurate geotechnical models.
  • Geotechnical reporting across a broad range of applications.
  • Development of effective temporary and permanent geotechnical design solutions, commensurate with your knowledge and experience.
  • Client engagement, development and ongoing management.
  • Collaborating with other professionals, internally and with our clients, such as geologists, environmental scientists, and civil engineers, to ensure that projects are designed and executed in a safe, sustainable, and environmentally responsible manner.
  • Understanding, upholding, and communicating the D&N Geotechnical Quality, Environmental, and Safety Management system.

About You:

  • Proven technical skills in geotechnical investigations, analysis and design, with expertise in soil and rock mechanics.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to convey complex information clearly and concisely.
  • Exceptional analytical skills and attention to detail.
  • A problem-solving mindset, adept at synthesis of problems, analysing data and devising effective solutions for complex geological and geotechnical challenges.
  • Degree qualified in Earth Science, Civil Engineering, preferably with a Tertiary qualification in Geotechnical Engineering.
  • Demonstrated experience in geotechnical investigations and design for geotechnical elements for:
    • Residential, commercial and industrial property.
    • Transport sector projects – road, rail, bridges, airports, intermodal terminals, ports, and the like
    • Local and State Government sector projects
    • Hospitals, Healthcare, Buildings of National Significance
    • Renewable energy schemes
  • Experience in undertaking of slope risk assessments under the following frameworks will be viewed preferentially:
    • TfNSW Slope Risk Assessment v 4.0
    • AGS (2007)
    • NPWS Slope Risk Management guidelines
  • Professional Engineering registration (RPEQ/CPEng, NER) with Engineers Australia.
  • Strong commercial, contractual, change and project management awareness to deliver projects on time and within budget.
  • Commitment to maintaining health and safety standards.
  • Australian working rights or a clear path to obtaining them.
