Geotechnical Design Engineer – Brisbane

We are seeking a motivated and skilled Geotechnical Design Engineer to join our growing team.

The role offers the opportunity to work with our passionate team of professionals to ensure that projects are designed and executed in a safe, sustainable, and environmentally responsible manner. You will have the opportunity to work on a diverse portfolio of projects, including national-scale transport infrastructure, renewable energy, and multi-level commercial developments.

The responsibilities of the role are:

  • Conduct site investigations and develop accurate geotechnical models, to interpret subsurface conditions, provide consulting advice to our clients and conduct geotechnical designs on that basis.
  • Design and plan infrastructure projects that involve the extraction, production, or management of natural resources, such as oil and gas pipelines, mining operations, and landfill sites.
  • Develop strategies to mitigate environmental risks and impacts, such as designing and implementing groundwater management plans, monitoring and mitigating soil erosion and sedimentation, and assessing the potential impacts of natural disasters.
  • Collaborate with other professionals, such as geologists, environmental scientists, and civil engineers, to ensure that projects are designed and executed in a safe, sustainable, and environmentally responsible manner.
  • Perform geotechnical analysis and data interpretation.
  • Prepare detailed reports on findings, risk assessments, and recommendations.
  • Engage closely with clients to understand their specific needs and provide tailored solutions that meet both technical and regulatory requirements.
  • Understand, uphold, and communicate D&N’s Quality, Environmental, and Safety Management system.

About You:

  • Proven technical skills in geotechnical analysis and design, with expertise in soil and rock mechanics.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to convey complex information clearly and concisely.
  • Exceptional analytical skills and attention to detail.
  • A problem-solving mindset, adept at analysing data and devising effective solutions for complex geological and geotechnical challenges.
  • Degree qualified in Earth Science, Civil Engineering, or Geotechnical Engineering.
  • Experience in the undertaking of slope risk assessments.
  • Commitment to maintaining health and safety standards.
  • Australian working rights or a clear path to obtaining them.
